Julien Alfred Women's Winner - The Bowerman - USTFCCCA Convention 2023
Published by
Julien Alfred came to Texas as a 17-year-old from tiny St. Lucia in the Caribbean Sea, full of potential but she also dealt with her share of setbacks, including being stuck on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic to go with a lost season. The progress she made in 2022 crested like a wave in 2023 and she re-wrote the collegiate record books in the sprints with 14 all-time top 10 performances. That includes eight of the 10 fastest times ever in the 60 meters indoors. She won five NCAA titles. On Thursday she capped her year by winning the second Bowerman Award by a Texas woman, joining Courtney Okolo in 2016.
